Hey there ladies, if someone’s been telling you that you’re better off going to the gym to end your weight and fitness worries, well then, turn around and tell them to mind their own business! Or simply opt for a more polite solution and tell them that they just might be wrong. And here’s why I think that yoga is a better answer to your ego’s plea.
Embracing Efficiency with Yoga
Now here’s an interesting question; why on earth would you want to waste so much time at the gym working each part of your body separately when you can work them all at once with yoga? You can lift as many weights as you want to strengthen and tone those muscles, but no amount of that is going to make your arms as strong as holding up your own body weight. Not to mention, almost everything you do in yoga involves harnessing your inner strength and engaging your core. From core-concentric poses to shifting from one to the other, yoga essentially uses your core to stabilise your body as you work out.
So it’s quite literally using all of your body a lot more efficiently in one go. And besides, while I’m still on efficiency, you don’t even have to waste time in going to a yoga centre when you can just do it at home as opposed to all the time you end up wasting in going to the gym and coming back. Talk about efficiently managing your time as well!
Yoga as Cardiovascular Exercise
If you think that running on a treadmill or cycling on an elliptical trainer is the only form of cardio for which you absolutely MUST go to the gym, think again! Yoga is just about as good as any other cardio work out that you perform at the gym. Maintaining your movements at a steady pace and matching your breath to those movements enables you to regulate proper blood pressure throughout your body making yoga a very healthy form of cardiovascular exercise. Or alternatively, you could also go on a morning walk, but hey, morning yoga is a lot more revitalising than that too!
A Non-Competitive Environment
To be honest, people who choose to work out at the gym tend to be a lot more competitive than those who prefer yoga. Not that being competitive is a bad thing, but when competing with others at the gym, are you really trying to achieve your own goals, or are you just trying to be better (or sexier) than the one standing next to you? Probably a mix of both I guess, which is again why I think yoga is better. Sine you’re not really partaking in an endless physical and beauty rat race, you’re focused on your achieving own goals and improving your own self well being. Now isn’t that just a lot better?
Cost-Effective Fitness
No fuel expenses to travel to the gym, and no fancy gear or equipment to buy! In fact, yoga doesn’t really cost you anything at all. All you need is some free space and yourself. Not even a yoga mat, sometimes the grass or a carpet will suffice. You don’t even need a set of gym clothes. From your favourite pair of PJs to that waist trainer you bought for the gym and never used, anything that fits you well and allows you to move freely is good enough.
Flexibility and Convenience
Now that’s a liberty the gym definitely does not allow you! Can’t carry all those machines and weights to the top of a green hill, can you? With practically no equipment limitations, you can be anywhere you want when stretching a couple of yoga poses; at home, office, on the streets, out in the mews; got any interesting ideas?
Diverse and Safe Workouts
At the gym, it’s the same routine, the same reps, the same exercise every single week. Whereas when it comes to yoga, the fact that you can choose to exercise at a different spot each day adds a whole lot of verity to your routine. Added to that, you can alternate between numerous poses to add even more variety.
Aesthetic Appeal and Wellness
Muscle spasms, sprains and pains are quite frequent at the gym. What’s worse is that sometimes they’re so bad that you have to take a break from your routine. Not to mention, with all the weights and machines around, you’re even more likely to end up with a broken bone if you’re stupid enough that is! On the contrary, yoga involves uniting the body, mind, and soul.
As a result, your body’s coordination and balance improves significantly drastically reducing the chances of incurring injuries. Well, not that getting injured while performing yoga is totally impossible, they’re still avoidable, and it’s definitely safer.
And lastly, if you’re looking to tease your eyes, you do find men with drool worthy abs at the gym, but most of them are still out-of-shapes trying to get back into shape, whereas if you choose to go to a co-ed yoga spa, you’ll notice that the men are a lot hotter and sexually exciting with their libido game on! Cheers!
